人間の全ての関わりにおいては、感情や力関係の微妙なレベルを醸し出します。 時に、誰かの意見への反応がアグレッシブに受け取られ、場の雰囲気が緊張する原因にもなります。 逆に、誰かの意見への反応が受け身であると思われ、不利な立場に陥る場合もあります。

Module 9: Assertiveness

OVERVIEW

All interactions between people convey subtle levels of emotion and power. Sometimes a response to what someone else says may be construed as being aggressive and lead to a rise in tensions. Sometimes a response to what someone else says may be construed as being passive and lead to a loss of one’s advantage.

In this module, we will learn about what it means to act and speak assertively (as opposed to aggressive or passive) and how to identify opportunities to be assertive in order to handle difficult discussions with confidence and effectiveness.

SKILLS:

  • How to speak directly, yet as politely as possible
  • How to speak to develop long-term relations

AGENDA:

Learn: Techniques and principles for acting and speaking in an assertive manner and how to differentiate assertiveness from aggressiveness and passiveness
Practice: Speaking assertively in business situations

By the end of this module, you will be able to:

  • Understand the differences between assertiveness and other styles such as aggressiveness and passiveness and have the confidence to speak assertively when necessary and appropriate
